Code of Ethics

Articles 1 through V are aspiration and establish guidelines for elevating the

Professionalism of the MLA members.

  1. HONESTY AND INTEGRITY. MLA members shall conduct business in a manner reflecting honesty, honor and integrity.
  2. PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT. MLA members shall behave in a dignified and professional manner in all of heir business activities.
  3. ON GOING EDUCATION. MLA members shall participate in a program of ongoing educational matters affecting the mortgage lending industry.
  4. SHARING OF INFORMATION.MLA members shall share with fellow members of their knowledge and expertise of our industry and shall respond positively to the desire of others to learn from them.
  5. SUPPORT LEGISISLATION. MLA members shall support legislation in their Community State, and nation that will encourage the success of ethical mortgage lending.

    Articles VI through X establish specific obligations of the MLA member. Failure to adhere to the code of ethics may subject the MLA member to disciplinary action.

  7. TRUTHFUL COMMUNICATION. MLA members will be truthful in all communications and representations, including disclosures and advertising, to clients, investor lenders and all parties to the loan transaction.
  8. COMPLIENENCE TO LAW. MLA members shall comply with the laws of the Sate of California and all federal agencies that regulate the practices of the Mortgage Lending Industry.
  9. HONOR AGREEMENTS. MLA members shall attempt to put all agreements into written form but shall abide with all agreements they have made whether written or oral.
  10. FAIR LENDING. MLA members shall, in the selection of clients, not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, religion, martial status, sex, physical characteristics or age.
  11. PRIVILEGED INDORMATION. MLA members shall treat all clients’ information of personal or financial nature as private and privileged.

The members of the Mortgage Lenders Association of Stanislaus County, believing that the interests of the public and private sectors are best served through the voluntary observance of ethical standards and practices hereby subscribe to the aforementioned principles and MLA board approved revisions. Violations of obligations as described in the Code of Ethics will subject the members to remedies as prescribed in the Bylaws of the Mortgage Lenders Association.
